Air conditioners cool by absorbing heat inside buildings and moving or releasing it to the outdoors. As it gets hotter outdoors and more cooling is needed, the amount of heat that can be released is reduced. Yet the compressor has to work harder to raise the refrigerant to higher pressures. This results in the AC unit using more electricity and having a lower cooling capacity.

Mist Ecology's patented precoolers evaporate a small amount of water, ranging from one to two gallons per hour per ton of cooling, into the condenser airflow. This reduces the airflow temperature by 15 to 20 F and greatly enhances the AC unit's ability to release heat from indoors and results in additional cooling capacity and reduced electrical consumption. Mist Ecology's unique design incorporates a control valve that insures that water is misted and evaporated only when outdoor conditions are hot enough to make a substantial benefit. Savings from 10% - 50%

DFW area savings in power (kW) typically range from 10 to 20% and the increase in cooling capacity (Btuh) ranges from 6 to 13%, yielding net efficiency or energy (kWh) savings of 15 to 35%. Drier climates in the southwest can expect efficiency improvements of 25 to 45% yielding return on investment of 30 to 50% without any utility company incentives or tax credits.
